2025 NZ En Plein Air Tour with Andrew Tischler

This will be the trip of a lifetime. We’re going to have a blast. It’s our goal to provide you with painting material, references and memories that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life, and to give you an experience you won’t forget.

Two tours of 12 people for 10 nights in Queenstown and Wanaka, NZ.

Tour 1 : Jan 29 - Feb 8th
Starting in Queenstown on the 29th Jan for 6 nights you will stay in your own room at
Platinum Apartments which looks out at Lake Wakatipu.
We will be travelling in luxury, we’ve hired a Mercedes 8 seater and 12 seater sprinter. You’ll have plenty of wiggle room, and space for all of your gear!

During our time in Queenstown, we’ll be painting over morning and afternoon sessions with a break during the day. As we’ll be conveniently located in Queenstown, you’ll be able to also take in the sights among the picturesque town.

We will be making a day trip, potentially two, to the Glenorchy area, and take in views and paint the Dart River and the Rees Valley. There’s also tonnes of painting material around Queenstown itself, I know you’ll be BLOWN AWAY!
After our first leg we then head to Wanaka where we’ll be staying in the picturesque Edgewater Resort for 4 nights. Here we’ll be located on the shore of Lake Wanaka and one simply has to walk to the water’s edge to make a stunning painting! Compositions abound!
Also one of my favorite spots, the Matukituki Valley, is just a short drive from our accommodation.

We have so many landscape locations for this second leg it will be a struggle to think where to paint next! I can’t wait to share this with you.
Tour 2 : Feb 17 - Feb 27th
Will experience a very similar tour, the same stunning locations, but only this time the order will be reversed; we’ll start in Wanaka with twin share accommodation and finish in Queenstown with your own room. We will have 5 nights in each place

We will be travelling in style in a Mercedes sprinter 12 seater and a separate 4WD with a driver.
Fitness and Accessibility

We’ve designed this tour to give everyone and virtually anyone access to some of the best landscapes NZ will have to offer. There is no hardcore mountain climbing here. We will be driving to most of our locations and our support crew will be able to help you carry anything you need and help you get set up for your painting sessions. As long as you can walk reasonably well, you’re good to go. We want any fitness level to take part.

Support Crew
Who’s going to be on your tour, lending a hand? Well, you already know me, I’ll be there every step of the way and take you through every demo and spend time with you One on One as you capture the landscape on canvas. We’ll get to know each other even better as we hang out over the entirety of the trip.

We also have my good friend, studio buddy and renowned sculptor (he’s also a pretty darn good painter) Mike Norris. Mike, born in the UK moved to NZ over a decade ago and has forged a name for himself creating bronze sculptures of many of New Zealand’s native and endangered birds. Also Robyn Johnston, she’s been a police officer, worked in retail, been a consultant and now she works for us. She’s also a very good friend and is as bubbly as she is trustworthy.

All 3 of us will be driving, though we’re going to keep time on the road to a minimum, you’ll no doubt want to get stuck into the painting!

We will provide stockman tents that open on all sides, and this will comfortably shelter 3-4 painters. We have 4 of these tents to keep us dry and seats for resting your legs.
Materials

What about materials? We will have an option for “Bring your Own” or you can order a special kit, which will include a pochade box, a palette of colours and brushes, with some linen panels in a range of sizes. I’m still sourcing some of these materials, but this will add to the overall ticket price (read on) by about 500USD. Please note, this may change depending on what materials are available!

Why the difference in price? Well, tour one will have a different accommodation option. We’ve been able to book individual deluxe rooms at the Edgewater in Wanaka, with your own bathroom, so no need to share. This, I imagine, some will prefer.

Tour 2 is twin share for the Wanaka leg. So if you don’t mind sharing, and you want to cut down on the price a little, this may be your option. Note, you’ll still have your own room in Queenstown.

If you would like to jump on this opportunity, all we need to secure your spot is a deposit of $1500 NZD. This will allow us to pay the necessary providers and make the tour a go. We’re already booked, we just need to pay our providers. Once we receive your deposit, you’re booked and your spot is secured. You can download the Booking Form and Terms & Conditions below.
